What appeared to be an instinctive act by actor-host Alden Richards during Sunday’s Sinulog Grand Parade did not go unnoticed by his fans.
A video of the prized Kapuso talent, uploaded by @abraomargarette on Twitter, shows him “rescuing” the Sto. Niňo image.
In the 45-second video, the 27-year-old actor is seen onboard the float of McDonalds Philipines when the Sto. Niño image gets caught by an electrical wire.
Amidst the screams of fans, Richards–on reflex–rushes towards the front part of the float where the Sto. Niňo image was placed and took out the wire as the float came to a stop. His companions are then seen helping him out.
The uploader of the video, a fan of AlDub
–the loveteam of Richards and “Eat Bulaga” co-host Maine Mendoza–posted: “And I’ve witnessed din how Alden cares for the ‘balaang Bata, Seňor Santo Niňo.’ Nabalisa kasi yung ulo ng Sto. Niňo sa line ng kuryente sa sobrang taas neto, lumampas at si A mismo yung first na tumulong.”
Other fans chimed in and lauded Richards for what he did.
@KOMPYUTER2003 tweeted:” Wow! Even in real life, isa syang superhero – his heart is in the right place. A bit reckless to hold on to those high tension wires pero ganun talaga si Alden eh. It wasn’t even his job to do that! Pero first responder talaga ang peg. Seňor Sto. Niňo bless U!”
Another Twitter user @pscd87 commented: “This says a lot about Alden. He will respond without thinking of his own safety when help is needed. Can you imagine the lengths he will go through for his loved ones?”
