Lead dancer of Borongan’s Tribu Rayhak wins Sinulog Festival Queen 2020

Monika Afable of Tribu Rayhak from Borongan Eastern Samar is the Sinulog Festival Queen of 2020.

She bested 10 other contenders to become this year’s most beautiful and talented Sinulog lead dancer.

Afable took home a crown, sash, and P150,000 cash on top of the special and corporate awards she garnered during the coronation night hosted by Vince Escario, Karla Henry Amman and Jonathan Cimafranca. The pageant was held at the Cebu City Sports Complex.

Completing Afable’s court are 1st runner-up Jesselle Saniel Inasal Festival of Talisay City; 2nd runner-up Jane Genobisa of Carcar City; 3rd runner-up Sabrina Bogard Banay Labangon of Barangay Labangon; and 4th runner-up Nathalie Shan Tribu Maampoong Cambihanon of Barangay Cambinocot.

The runners-up won P100,000, P50,000, P30,000, and P20,000, respectively.

This year’s Sinulog Festival Queen also won P280,000 worth of franchise to Driptea Visayas, making her its official brand ambassador for one year.

One of the crowd’s favorites, Afable has been winning several corporate awards since the beginning of the competition. She was named Miss Mega Sardines, Miss Mang Inasal, Miss Tender Juicy, and Miss McDonalds.

She also bagged other pre-coronation awards, such as Robinsons Galleria Cebu Festival Queen and the Best in Runway.

Afable will represent Cebu to the Miss Millennial Philippines pageant of the country’s longest-running noontime show, Eat Bulaga.

Group Awards
The Best in Instrumentation or Musicality and Best in Group Presentation awards all went to Banay Labangon of Barangay Labangon.

Afable’s strongest contender in last night’s competition was Saniel of Talisay City who won the Best in Opening Production Number award and four corporate titles such as Miss Pioneer Adhesive, Miss Toughest Queen, Miss Shell Advance, and Miss Magnolia.

This year’s Sinulog Festival Queen was judged by Cary Santiago, Paolo Ballesteros, Mr. Hwang Woon Ki, Annie Divinagracia Sartorio, John Herrera, Shaila Rebortera, Angie Louie, Nestor Jardin, and Al Ryan Alejandre.
